October 20th, 2025

Pregnancy is nothing short of magical, but let’s be real, it can also do a number on your body. At Legacies Health Centre, a leading multidisciplinary clinic in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, we understand the unique needs of expectant mothers. With locations in Burnaby, North Vancouver, and Surrey, our team of chiropractors, physiotherapists, massage therapists, and other specialists is dedicated to helping women manage pregnancy-related discomfort through evidence-based care. If you’re experiencing aches and pains during pregnancy, chiropractic care can provide safe and effective relief to support your journey.

Pregnancy and Your Musculoskeletal System: Understanding the Strain

Pregnancy triggers profound changes in a woman’s body, particularly in the musculoskeletal system. As your baby grows, your center of gravity shifts, placing extra stress on your spine, pelvis, and joints. Hormonal changes loosen ligaments to prepare for childbirth, but this can lead to pelvic instability and discomfort. Common issues include lower back pain, sciatica, hip discomfort, and round ligament pain.

These changes can make everyday activities challenging, impacting your quality of life. Misalignments in the spine or pelvis may also contribute to discomfort, as the body compensates for added weight and altered posture. At Legacies Health Centre, our chiropractic care is tailored to address these pregnancy-induced strains, helping you move with greater ease and comfort.

How Chiropractic Care Provides Safe, Effective Pain Relief?

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is a gentle, non-invasive approach that alleviates pain and promotes overall wellness. Our chiropractors at Legacies Health Centre use specialized techniques to address pelvic and spinal misalignments. These adjustments restore balance, reduce joint stress, and improve nerve function, targeting the root causes of pain rather than just masking symptoms.

For example, chiropractic care can relieve sciatica by reducing pressure on the sciatic nerve, which is often caused by pelvic shifts. It can also ease lower back pain by realigning the spine, improving posture, and supporting the body’s changing structure. Our treatments are safe for both mother and baby, with adjustments customized to your stage of pregnancy. Combined with our other services like pelvic health physiotherapy, massage therapy, and acupuncture, chiropractic care offers a holistic solution for pregnancy discomfort.

Beyond pain relief, chiropractic care enhances overall wellness. It can improve mobility, reduce tension, and even support optimal fetal positioning, potentially easing labour and delivery. At Legacies, our multidisciplinary team collaborates to create personalized treatment plans, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.
