How does MSP coverage work?
Patients eligible for MSP are allowed up to 10 visits annually to be shared as needed between massage, physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment. MSP advises clinics to verify coverage on each date to ensure eligibility. Patients with MSP coverage pay for each eligible appointment a user fee between $25-27 (dependent on service). When MSP coverage has been exhausted, Patient is expected to cover and pay for the applicable service private rate.
Note: It’s recommended that Patients keep track of their visits if they are also using MSP coverage elsewhere. There is an annual limit of 10 shared visits.
How does ICBC coverage work?
In most cases, Patients are pre-approved for Kinesiology/Active Rehabilitation, Massage Therapy, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic Care, Acupuncture, and Psychological/Counselling services for their active claim (within 3 months from the date of the accident). After this period, a GP note is required. If your funding is approved, Legacies Health Centre will directly bill 100% of your pre-approved costs to ICBC.
Please note that for RMT subsequent appointments, ICBC partly covers the 45-minute (or longer) sessions. An additional user fee applies and must be paid by the patient.
If clients opts for longer appointments (from the ones approved by ICBC), the additional cost is charged to the client. This additional cost may be covered by your Extended Health Plan (dependent on your individual coverage), but it cannot be submitted as direct billing. Legacies provides a medical receipt to be used on request for reimbursement.
For detailed information on the Legacies services offered to individuals involved in a car accident, please visit ICBC Services webpage.
How does WCB coverage work?
Massage Therapy: With a Physician referral, the Patient with a WCB accepted claim, is automatically pre-approved for 12 (twelve) 30-minute appointments, to be completed within 8 weeks from the date of the injury. Treatments will be directly billed to WCB. If Patient doesn’t have a Doctor’s note/referral, or if the 8-week window has already passed, Patient needs to contact WCB to get an approval for treatment.
Physiotherapy: Patients need to provide a claim number, PHN and date of injury when booking a Physiotherapy appointment. Legacies staff will be able to check if the claim is approved on the WCB’s website.
Patients with an approved claim have 60 days from the date of injury to come in for an assessment/treatment, and treatments will be billed directly to WCB. If 60-days timeframe has passed, Patients needs to contact WCB for approval, before booking an appointment.
Chiropractic: Patients need to provide a claim number, PHN and date of injury when booking a Chiropractic appointment. Legacies staff will be able to check if the claim is approved on the WCB’s website.
Patients with an approved claim have 60 days from the date of injury to come in for an assessment/treatment, and 8 weeks of treatment available. Treatments will be billed directly to WCB. If 60-days timeframe has passed, Patients needs to contact WCB for approval, before booking an appointment.
