Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a primary-contact healthcare profession in BC that focuses on the neuro-musculoskeletal systems.

This means that chiropractors can make adjustments safely to diagnose, treat and prevent various neural and musculoskeletal conditions. It is not just for trauma management after an auto accident. Chiropractic services can address issues as simple as stiffness and as complex as severe back pain. They can help athletes achieve optimal physical performance through manual adjustments and soft tissue release.

Do I need a referral to book a chiropractic appointment?

No, a Doctor’s referral is not required for a chiropractic appointment.

How can I book a chiropractic appointment?

At Legacies Health Centre, appointments may be booked online or in person. Visit our contact page to call the most convenient location for you. You may also call our main number, 604-591-5569, and choose the most convenient location from the directory.

I am not sure if chiropractic is right for me. How will I know?

Chiropractors at Legacies Health Centre offer a complimentary 10-minute consultation to assess whether chiropractic care is recommended for you.

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

An adjustment is a safe technique applied by the chiropractor to a specific joint to improve mobility.

What is the “cracking” sound heard with adjustments?

This sound is created from a pressure change of small pockets of air in the synovial fluid of the joint tissues that are stretched during an adjustment.

Is chiropractic covered by my extended health plan?

Clients should refer to their specific extended medical plan coverage for details on services and coverage available.

  • Patients eligible for MSP have 10 visits annually to be shared between physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic treatment. A $25 user fee will still apply to visits.
  • Patients with Extended Health Coverage: Physiotherapy services are covered in part by most insurance providers. Legacies directly bill most insurance providers or provides you with a receipt to request reimbursement.  Portions of the visit not covered by Extended Health insurance providers will be billed to you at the time of your visit.
  • Patients with ICBC Claim: most recent claims (within 3 months) have 25 physiotherapy sessions pre-approved.

• Patients with an approved WorkSafeBC claim have 60 days from the date of injury to come in for an assessment/treatment, and treatments will be billed directly to WSBC.

Is my appointment directly billed to my extended health plans?

Legacies Health Centre directly bills most extended health plans. Look at our list of direct billing insurers to see if we direct bill to yours, or call us at 604-591-5569 to confirm. If your plan is not on our list of direct billing providers, Legacies Health Centre provides a medical receipt to be used on request for reimbursement.

Is it safe to come to in-person chiropractic appointments?

Our top priority is the health and safety of our clients and staff. We have developed and implemented a comprehensive COVID-19 safety plan to ensure our clinics are safe. Please refer to our Communicable Disease Prevention Plan for more information.

Do chiropractors only make adjustments to the back and neck?

No, most chiropractors can make adjustments to the limbs as well.

How much education and training do chiropractic doctors have?

Chiropractors are spinal health and well-being specialists with a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education. Many have a bachelor’s degree, and all have a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree.
