Legacies Dietitian consult is performed by a Registered Dietitian, who will assess your nutrition and make diet recommendations based on preferences, health conditions and individual goals.

Legacies now offer dietitian and nutritional services, delivered by a Registered Dietitian via telehealth or by phone. Our Registered Dietitian creates a clear, attainable and sustainable nutritional plan to keep you on track!

Dietitian Consultation


At Legacies, Dietitian consults are performed through Telehealth or by phone. Initial appointments are 45 minutes and follow-up appointments are 30 minutes long. If you are unsure if this service is for you, you may book a 15 minute consult to see how a dietitian can help you.

Initial Consultation (45 minutes)

  • Perform a comprehensive health and nutritional assessment

Follow-up Consultations (30 minutes)

Dietitian consult is available as a stand-alone session, or part of the TOTAL Health packages (Personal Trainings sessions + Dietitian Consult + Massage therapy).

What to Expect from Your Consult?

During your first appointment, your Dietitian will perform a comprehensive health assessment and ask questions about your health (history, age, medical conditions, lifestyle, etc.), eating habits and preferences, food allergies, as well as any supplements and medications you may be taking. Your Dietitian will also talk about your individual short and long-term goals, and develop a plan with simple steps to support you to get there. You will get clear, attainable and sustainable recommendations aligned to your individual goals.

Your follow-up consult will focus on how you are feeling since you have changed your diet, the progress made since last session, and making any adjustments as needed.

You may also add a meal plan option to your consults.

More About Nilou

Nilou completed her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from UBC. She is registered Dietitian with 19 years’ experience, and is passionate about helping people with digestive and other chronic health issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and weight management that can impact one’s life.

Through a tailored an individualized plan based on client’s lifestyle, health and preferences, Nilou helps her clients to achieve their health goals and/or manage symptoms through proper nutrition, while still enjoying the foods they love. She also offers nutrition counselling for pre and post-natal and family/childhood dietary needs.

Is Dietitian Consult Covered by Extended Health?

Private practice dietitians are not covered by MSP.  However, many extended health benefit plans and insurance providers will cover a portion or all of the services provided by a Registered Dietitian (RD). Please confirm with your plan provider your maximum yearly and visit allowance.

Furthermore, registered dietitians are authorized medical practitioners recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency.  If you pay out of pocket for your dietitian services, you can claim these expenses as medical expense for tax credit purposes.

Extended Health Coverage

Legacies Health Centre offers direct billing to most Extended Health plans to the majority of our services. Some services (like Clinical Counselling), do not offer direct billing. ICBC Insurance Claims

Legacies Practitioners, including Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Kinesiologists, all have extensive experience in administering ICBC treatments. We are here to help! Click the ‘learn more’ button for additional details.

WorkSafeBC Claims

Workplace injuries are usually due to trauma or overuse. If you have been injured as a result of a workplace activity, our team of experts at Legacies can perform a comprehensive assessment and develop a treatment plan to reduce your symptoms and rehabilitate your injury.

If your claim is approved by WSBC, your initial assessment is 100% covered with a WorkSafeBC Claim number. Once your claim has been accepted by WorkSafeBC, the full treatment cost of your appointments will be funded (within the approved time parameters). When you are ready, your physiotherapist will work with you, your employer, physician, and WorkSafeBC Case Manager to develop a safe and appropriate return to work plan. If your claim has been denied or is disallowed, the expenses will need to be covered by the Patient
