Danny utilizes a combination of manual therapy, dry needling/IMS, electrotherapy, shockwave therapy, taping and exercise prescription in his practice.

Meet Matt

Matt obtained his training as a Physiotherapist at the University of Birmingham, UK in 2008. He began his career working in the National Health Service before immigrating to Canada in 2010 to work for Back in Motion & Legacies Health Centre. He developed a passion for more complex conditions and is certified in Vestibular Rehabilitation, Concussion Management and Persistent Pain Management.

Andre holds a Master’s degree in Orthopedic Physiotherapy and boasts a decade of experience across three countries. Specializing in sports injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation, he is certified in Orthopedic Manual Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation from Prime Physio – UK. With a keen interest in the rehabilitation of running, cycling, and soccer injuries, Andre is dedicated to helping athletes achieve optimal recovery and performance.

Meet Jackie

Jackie Muir is a Physiotherapist at Legacies Health – North Vancouver, with over two decades of experience in the field. Known for her proactive treatment approach, Jackie emphasizes empowering clients to take charge of their well-being. A perpetual learner, she has recently delved into oncology rehabilitation, completing courses in Evidence-Informed Breast Cancer Rehabilitation and obtaining her Pinc and Steele Certification in Oncology Rehabilitation from New Zealand, catering to various cancer types and treatments. Additionally, Jackie has received training in Concussion and Vestibular Rehabilitation and is currently pursuing her Clinical Pilates Certification. Outside of work, Jackie indulges in her passion for trail running and adventure, participating in races as long as 200 miles in the Alps and tackling trails like the Tahoe Rim and John Muir. An enthusiastic traveler, she also engages in team sports like ultimate Frisbee while attempting more leisurely pursuits such as knitting.

Is Physiotherapy covered by ICBC?

In most cases, if the car accident was less than 3 months ago, patients with an ICBC claim are pre-approved for 25 Physiotherapy sessions. If funding is approved, Legacies will directly bill your pre-approved costs to ICBC. If it has been longer than 3 months since your accident, Back in Motion can contact your ICBC adjuster on your behalf to request funding for Physiotherapy, and a doctor’s referral may be required.

What is pelvic floor physiotherapy?

Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is the application of physiotherapy treatments to address pelvic floor injuries and/or conditions. Pelvic floor physiotherapy consists of the assessment and treatment of a variety of conditions involving pain or dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles, ligaments, nerves and connective tissues.

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy (also known as physical therapy) is a healthcare profession that helps individuals to restore, maintain, and improve their physical health, physical function and overall wellbeing. Physiotherapists or physical therapists utilizes modalities, education, exercises and a variety of manual techniques to assist patients with their injury and/or condition.

How much does physiotherapy cost in BC?

Physiotherapy rates vary according to session type (assessment, subsequent), session length, experience and expertise of the clinician, as well as if you have an active claim associated to your booking. The best way to find out the cost is to call and speak with one of our staff, who will be able to provide you with a session rate, and any coverage you may have available to offset the out-of-pocket costs. 

  • Patients eligible for MSP have 10 visits annually to be shared between physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic treatment. A $25 user fee will still apply to visits.  
  • Patients with Extended Health Coverage: Physiotherapy services are covered in part by most insurance providers. Legacies directly bill most insurance providers or provides you with a receipt to request reimbursement.  Portions of the visit not covered by Extended Health insurance providers will be billed to you at the time of your visit.
  • Patients with ICBC Claim: most recent claims (within 3 months) have 25 physiotherapy sessions pre-approved. 

• Patients with an approved WorkSafeBC claim have 60 days from the date of injury to come in for an assessment/treatment, and treatments will be billed directly to WSBC.

Is physiotherapy tax deductible in BC?

Physiotherapy is an eligible medical expense on your income tax return. If you have paid any expenses for yourself or dependents, they can be added to your tax return.

What to wear to physiotherapy?

If you are attending a physiotherapy appointment, wear comfortable and loose clothes that allows movement without restriction and that exposes the area of injury or area for treatment.

Extended Health Coverage

Legacies Health Centre offers direct billing to most Extended Health plans to the majority of our services. Some services (like Clinical Counselling), do not offer direct billing. ICBC Insurance Claims

Legacies Practitioners, including Physiotherapists, Massage Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Kinesiologists, all have extensive experience in administering ICBC treatments. We are here to help! Click the ‘learn more’ button for additional details.

WorkSafeBC Claims

Workplace injuries are usually due to trauma or overuse. If you have been injured as a result of a workplace activity, our team of experts at Legacies can perform a comprehensive assessment and develop a treatment plan to reduce your symptoms and rehabilitate your injury.

If your claim is approved by WSBC, your initial assessment is 100% covered with a WorkSafeBC Claim number. Once your claim has been accepted by WorkSafeBC, the full treatment cost of your appointments will be funded (within the approved time parameters). When you are ready, your physiotherapist will work with you, your employer, physician, and WorkSafeBC Case Manager to develop a safe and appropriate return to work plan. If your claim has been denied or is disallowed, the expenses will need to be covered by the Patient
